Description

Need help paying utility bills? United Way can help you with that. If you need any help at any point during your application, please call 844-211-4994 Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm.

The following programs can be accessed through this application:

Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) is a statewide program that assists with energy bills. United Way can provide MEAP assistance statewide. You can also dial 2-1-1 for all other types of assistance — including food, housing and rent.

To be enrolled in MEAP, you must be approved for State Emergency Relief (SER) first. You will need documentation including your most recent utility bill, ID and pay stubs/benefit statements for all household members.

If you’ve already applied for utility assistance through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services SER application and would also like to apply for affordable payment plans, including DTE Energy’s LSP program, Consumers Energy’s CARE program and Semco Energy Gas Company’s Monthly Assistance Program (MAP), please click here.[HR1]

The Water Residential Assistance Program (WRAP) and the Hardship Assistance Program provide assistance with water bills and plumbing repairs based on your household income. Even if you’re not sure you would qualify, you are strongly encouraged to apply.

United Way can provide WRAP and Hardship Assistance Program assistance for Oakland County residents only

If you need water assistance and you live outside Oakland County, please call 2-1-1 to receive a referral for the agency that serves your area.
